First Captain To Lead Bangladesh Cricket Team, Shamim Kabir passes away at 75

Shamim Kabir, the man who led the Bangladesh Cricket Team into its first international match passed away in a hospital in Dhaka City today.

From leading the national side in its first international match to being awarded the National Sports Award for his contribution to sports in 1999, Shamim Kabir contributed monumentally to cricket in Bangladesh.

The former skipper scored 411 runs with an average of 17.86 in his 15 1st class matches.

He was also heavily involved with the cricket administration after his retirement from international cricket in 1977.

He was 75 when he breathed his last.
