1. Share a bit about your journey into the world of makeup artistry and what was the inspiration behind your passion?
From a young age, creativity was my compass, guiding me through the worlds of arts and crafts with ease. Makeup, a form of art I held dear, became my canvas, allowing me to express beauty in unique ways. Despite my natural affinity for makeup artistry, it never crossed my mind to pursue it professionally. My academic path led me to business studies, a field world apart from the creative realm I cherished.
However, life took an unexpected turn when I moved abroad in 2014. It was then that I discovered an untapped market for freelance makeup artists in Bangladesh. This realization, coupled with the encouragement of friends and family, ignited a spark within me. I began to see the potential for a career in makeup artistry, especially in the context of the burgeoning demand I observed in Western countries. Bridal makeup, particularly airbrush makeup, fascinated me. Its ability to transform the skin and overall appearance was mesmerizing, and I knew I had found my calling.
My initial foray into professional makeup artistry was anything but successful. My first assignment, a trial makeup session, ended in disappointment. The results were far from what I had envisioned, and I didn’t secure the job. This failure, however, did not deter me. Instead, it fueled my determination to improve and master my craft.
Armed with a newfound resolve, I delved deeper into the world of makeup artistry, learning everything I could about techniques, products, and the transformative power of makeup. My perseverance paid off in my next assignment, where I exceeded expectations and truly found my footing as a makeup artist. This experience affirmed my belief in my abilities and set me on a path of continuous growth and success in the beauty industry.
2. Walk us through some of your signature makeup styles and what makes you different from other conventional makeup artists?
Incorporating airbrush makeup into my portfolio as a signature technique has allowed me to offer a distinctive aesthetic that resonates with the natural beauty ethos. Known for its ability to mimic the appearance of skin, airbrush makeup provides a seamless, healthy-looking finish. Its remarkable coverage effortlessly conceals blemishes while maintaining a skin-like texture, a feature that has become synonymous with my approach to beauty.
My philosophy on makeup is centered around the art of balance. When granted creative freedom, I adopt a harmonious approach to the face, choosing to accentuate the eyes with boldness while keeping the rest of the makeup understated, particularly the lips, and vice versa. This principle ensures that the makeup enhances rather than overwhelms, preserving the skin’s natural allure.
I am committed to preserving the individual’s natural skin tone, making adjustments only upon request. My style is minimalistic yet infused with contemporary glamour, striking a delicate balance that appeals to modern sensibilities. This approach distinguishes my work in a crowded field, where every makeup artist cultivates a niche. My unique blend of airbrush mastery and understated glamour sets me apart, defining my artistic identity in the realm of makeup artistry.
3. The beauty and makeup industry are constantly evolving. How do you stay innovative and ahead of trends and make best use of social media and technology to enhance your skills?
I firmly believe in the power of continuous learning, especially in an era where advancements and trends evolve rapidly, thanks in large part to the internet. In the competitive landscape of makeup artistry, staying abreast of new techniques and trends is crucial to remaining at the forefront of the industry. However, my approach to trends is selective; I prioritize adaptations that resonate with a broader audience, recognizing that not everyone appreciates an overly contoured look or a bold lip. My aim is to align trends with my clients’ comfort levels, striking a balance between contemporary styles and personal preferences.
The abundance of tutorials and instructional content available online has proven to be an invaluable resource for refining my skills. I actively pursue further education in makeup artistry, investing in courses and workshops to deepen my understanding of new products and techniques. This commitment to education is not just about staying current; it’s about mastering the art of tailoring makeup applications to individual needs, considering diverse skin types, conditions, and client expectations. Knowledge of products and their application is fundamental, as the effectiveness of makeup varies significantly from one individual to another.
My philosophy centers on the intersection of innovation, adaptability, and client-centric approaches. By continuously expanding my knowledge and skill set, I ensure that my artistry not only meets but exceeds expectations, thereby cementing my position as a leading makeup artist in an ever-evolving industry.
4. As we know that you work globally, could you shed some light on how things are different in terms of styles and client preference?
Having had the privilege to work across the globe, my career began in the United States, where I spent two years catering primarily to Western brides, most of whom donned traditional white gowns. A few clients were from South Asia, providing a diverse palette of experiences. My international assignments often involved destination weddings, where I observed a distinct preference for minimalism in bridal makeup. This experience taught me that a heavy outfit does not necessitate heavy makeup—a principle that resonated deeply with my own aesthetic values.
Working abroad, I learned the importance of focusing on achieving flawless skin, aiming for a natural makeup look that eschews excessive glitter for the eyes and opts for subtle lips, creating an overall ethereal appearance. This approach contrasts with traditional makeup styles, favoring understatement over embellishment. Gradually, I’ve seen this preference for minimalism begin to take root in Bangladesh, with more and more people appreciating the beauty and elegance of a less is more approach to bridal makeup. This global experience has not only broadened my professional horizon but also enriched my artistic repertoire, allowing me to blend international trends with local tastes.

This intimate setting becomes especially cherished during the wedding season, offering a serene retreat from the hectic pace of salons and parlors. Beyond makeup, my passion extends to skincare, believing that healthy skin is the foundation of any great makeup look.
