‘Stories of Ramadan’ by Facebook and CNN International

Facebook is partnering up with CNN International to bring forth a 10-part series called ‘Together Apart: Stories of Ramadan’ on how Muslims are observing Ramadan during the COVID-19 pandemic. Each episode would be 5-6 minutes long with different highlights every week, such as family, spirituality, hope and wellness, etc.

The stories would be showcased via interviews, first-hand accounts as well as user-generated content, and it is to be launched on the first day of Ramadan, staying on air throughout the month. The show would be broadcasted on the Facebook page of CNN International and can also be watched on Facebook Watch using the hashtag: #RamadanTogether.

This collaboration is one of the nine associations that Facebook has in store for the upcoming holy month. Other contents would be in association with Arab entertainment platforms such as Charisma Group, Roya TV, Shoof, and 7AWI. Influencers like Nas Daily, Khalid Al Ameri, Ahmad Al Shugairi, and Mohamed Abdulle & Basma Khalifa are about to create content regarding Ramadan as well.

Louise Holmes is the director of media partnerships for EMEA at Facebook who said that it is important to create opportunities to connect people as everyone is going through a difficult time with friends and family not being able to come together in person. He also said that through these partnerships, Facebook is trying to shine a light on the diverse ways Ramadan will be experienced this year.
