Men In Makeup

Gender stereotypes cost both men and women equally. Double standards have grappled both sexes since the beginning of time. As of recently, men on the internet have been breaking all sorts of social constructs by doing what they love on social media!

Men are not just applying make up and posting make up tutorials on Instagram and facebook, they have also taken over fashion runways and magazines.

Mario Dedivanovic, Jay Manuel, Stan Winston, etc. have been in the fashion industry for a long time.  The legendary Marilyn Monroe’s makeup artist was a man too. Whitey Snyder was Marilyn Monroe’s makeup artist throughout her career and served her from her screen tests to her funeral makeover.

The legends of male makeup artists are very exciting and very down to earth at the same time. All popular artists have examples of humanitarian work and inspiring stories. The fashion world might sound easy but it is hard to get noticed and gain popularity. These men have earned their high place the hard way.

The new makeup artists who gained popularity through Instagram and YouTube are more comfortable with applying makeup on their own face. Manny Mua, James Charles and Jeffree Star are in the successful makeup artists’ club right now, and they are all men!

Jeffrey Star also has his own makeup line that is considered a modern high-end makeup brand along with Mac and Kylie cosmetics. Sir John, makeup artist of Beyonce is also launching his own makeup line.

It’s mesmerizing how versatile the male makeup artist community actually is. Many of them are now a part of the “Men in Makeup” club and are making breakthroughs in the beautification business.

A young example of which is Reuben de Maid – a 10-year-old boy who likes applying makeup to his face. He is also a YouTuber and likes to express his views against social standards. Men wearing makeup inspired him and made him confident about accepting himself.

You. Yes, you.
