Food Pairs You Never Thought Could Work

Pairing certain kinds of food can create matches made in heaven, it’s almost as if they were meant to be, like pizza and cheese or simply, daal and bhaat. But have you ever thought what it would be like pairing up the wrong ones?

Coffee and Mangoes

Mango lovers know how desperately they wait for summer to arrive to have a bite of this luscious fruit. There are a lot of different types of food that can complement mangoes really well, like sticky rice but I am sure you haven’t tried mangoes with coffee. Or have you?

It’s really quite easy to make. Just make your favorite hot cup of coffee and throw in some sliced or diced mangoes. Make sure to pick the sweetest of mangoes to give yourself the perfect balance of flavors.

Peanut Butter and Apples

Now, this is something we absolutely adore. You can try slightly salted peanut butter or the ones that leave off a creamy residue behind. Both can do the job quite well. While choosing the apples for peanut butter, the writer prefers going for green apples instead of red ones. Red apples tend to have a crunchy texture which somewhat collides with the nutty flavor of the peanut butter. But you can surely try out both to see what works best for you.

Pickles and Dark Chocolate

Might gross you out just by reading this but it’s not a disappointment once you try it out. Pickles are mostly known for their sour and spicy flavor, with a few exceptions that are known to be sweet. To give the perfect kick to your taste buds, go for the sour pickles with some spice in it. They cut through the rich texture of semi-sweetened or unsweetened dark chocolate.

Olive Oil and Ice Cream

Olive oils are known to be mixed with all sorts of desserts. Cakes, custards and even mousses have a bit of olive oil in them. This meal requires the least amount of preparation. Take a scoop or two of your favorite ice cream and mix it in some olive oil. To get the best out of this combo, go for vanilla ice creams to keep the balance just right.

Carpe diem!

Chicken Roast and Jorda

We saved the quirkiest for the end.

Remember when every wedding in Dhaka hadn’t been introduced to premuim kachchi, and the chicken roast would eventually end up saving your taste buds?

And with that being said, wouldn’t you agree that all the doi and fruits topped with malai could never replace the wedding-dessert royalty that jorda is.

We bet you do.

Combining the two might freak you out at first but just imagine the succulent and tender chicken roast and its caramelized gravy mixed with some sugary and moist jorda with the aroma of rosewater wafting all around. Still disgusted? We hope not.
