Importance of Tarawee

In the month of Ramadan, almost all Muslims pray Tarawee even though it is sunnah (optional), not fard (mandatory). Usually, Tarawee prayers are done at the mosque, but due to the pandemic, Muslims are adamant to pray at home, and they’d pray every night of Ramadan as there are many virtues:

Can Listen to The Quran

First and foremost, you will get to listen to the Holy Book being recited during the prayers, which is considered a fulfilment of religious duties and the Prophet (SAW) said “Whoever reads a letter from the Book of Allah, he will have a reward. And that reward will be multiplied by ten” to award you in multitude of ways.

Get to Offer Salah More

Salah (namaz) is a profound manner of worship that is fard (mandatory) 5 times a day. Offering prayers have their own set of rewards for you, and praying 8 to 20 rakah of Tarawee every night of Ramadan means you’d be awarded more than any other time of the year.

Improves Physical Health

The simple movements during salah can be considered as exercise and help you achieve better health. It can slowly restore muscle strength in elderly people with minimum effort, preventing osteoporosis. It increases people’s flexibility as the joints are regularly lubricated due to the movement during salah.

Improves Mental Health

As Tarawee can be compared to simple exercise, it has the same benefits as exercise such as decreasing chances of anxiety attacks and depression phases. Tarawee won’t just help to burn calories but will also give you a sense of comfort and relaxation after fasting for the entire day, and lead to better sleeping patterns.

Encourages Faith:

Tarawee also encourages your faith in Allah as communities get together to pray every night for the entire Holy month of Ramadan. Because of the global crisis, we need that faith in The Almighty to be stronger than ever, and even if we are all separated into our homes, we should all pray for a feeling of togetherness and for hopes to get reunited soon enough.
