You Go Gaga

Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta or popularly known as Lady Gaga, was talk of the town for a while after her first Oscar win in Academy Awards. Shallow, her song in the movie “A Star is Born” brought accolades. It wasn’t all smooth sailing throughout her life and what you see now is the end product of a struggling career and life.

Bullied a Child

Stefani’s talents started to show at the age of four with the piano and took acting classes at eleven, in hopes of becoming an actress. She was bullied by other children for her “rabbit teeth”, “big nose” and unique interests.

Trauma in College

She was doing great with music and waitressing at seventeen until a twenty-year older man sexually assaulted her. She kept blaming herself for this and didn’t tell anyone for seven years. Eventually in her second year, she dropped out to heal herself with music.

Breakthrough to Identity Crisis

Wendy Starland, a scout, met her up with Rob Fusari, a music producer. Although skeptical about Stefani’s physique and abilities at first, the producer was left in awe as she sat down to sing while playing a piano. Fusari later on named her as “Lady Gaga”.

Her experiences with Island Def Jam(record label) and RedOne(music producer) were not pleasant throughout either.

A Formidable Career and Success

Gaga’s boyfriend told her that she wouldn’t make it in her career before moving to L.A. Drag queens, Cher and Madonna became her inspiration. Acknowledged by Akon in 2007, she released “The Fame”, a debut album, which took number one spot in 8 countries. “Poker Face”, her single in 2009, became best-selling in the world.

Her new album, “ARTPOP”, revealed a new version of herself after her injury in 2012. She went on to win two Grammys and an Oscar for her song “Shallow” in February 2019.

Never Give Up on Yourself

If there is anything you should take from Lady Gaga’s life, it’s that no matter how painful the struggle is don’t give up on your dream as an artist. People will put you down and hold you back, however, take that as motivation to get over them. Carry your passion forward and you will make it as an artist sooner or later.

You. Yes, you.
