Anirban Aurgho didn’t know how big a thing Cosplaying was in Bangladesh until he visited his first Comic-Con back in 2014. Being a great fan of video games for a very long time, he had always felt an urge to step into the shoes of his favorite fictional characters, and so he decided to give cosplaying a shot. Yaya Han, Jessica Nigri, FakeNerdBoy, Nicole Marie Jean (all famous cosplayers) have been Aurgho’s biggest inspirations for cosplaying. Some of Aurgho’s favorite characters are Lt. Simon Riley a.k.a “Ghost” from the Call of Duty video game franchise and Frank Castle a.k.a The Punisher – he loves them for their killer attitudes, remarkable gun-wielding skills and intriguing back-stories. Aurgho is very big on First Person Shooter video games and Marvel. In the future, Aurgho plans to cosplay characters from Rainbow Six Siege, Ghost Recon Wildlands/Breakpoint and Silent Hill. For Aurgho, choosing the proper fabric that is as accurate as possible in terms of texture and proper detailing of the props are the most vital parts of a proper cosplay costume. In regards to his vision of the future of the cosplaying community in Bangladesh, Aurgho says that promoting newcomers, introducing workshops, organizing meet-ups, proper geek fests and more comic-cons will help motivate the cosplayers and will help the community grow.

Sadman Alvi Rajkhan used to collect action figures and watch super-hero movies from a very early age – in fact,  it was his intense love for Iron Man that made him start going to Comic Conventions and Expos. Meeting the amazing cosplayers in those events inspired him to take up cosplaying. Very recently, Sadman cosplayed as Iron Man, a fictional character who he adores because of the stark similarities in their personalities. “I mainly love Iron Man because I can relate to him. What makes him so different from all other superheroes is that even though he doesn’t have any superpowers, he’s still unstoppable,” commented Sadman. For future conventions, Sadman plans to bring to life some villains from his favorite superhero movies and games but doesn’t want to disclose too much because he doesn’t want to lose the shock factor.  Sadman creates his armor-based costumes by utilizing materials such as EVA foam, super-glue, scissors and paint. In regards to the future of the community, Sadman thinks that it’s headed in the right direction. He’s very grateful to his seniors who are taking initiatives to promote the development of the community and is very proud to be a part of it.

Unlike other cosplayers, Jesan Tanvir chose to start cosplaying to boost his confidence. He considered cosplaying as a hobby that was safe and encouraged creative thinking. Also, the fact that he had long hair and so could easily dress up as L, who is one of his favorite characters from Death Note, further motivated him to start cosplaying. Jesan is also a devotee of Takumi Fujiwara from Initial D, in whom he sees a reflection of himself. Wanting to keep surprising his followers, Jesan refused to share his future plans of cosplays. As of now, all he can say is that whatever he ends up doing will be big. When it comes to perfecting his costumes, Jesan considers super glue to be his best friend. “It creates a royal mess sometimes, but it doesn’t mean any harm,” joked Jesan. Much like the other cosplayers on our list, Jesan also agreed that more support is needed for further growth. “Don’t think of cosplaying as a competition. Everyone who cosplays is a part of a massive family, and supporting each other should be our number one priority. That’s the only way we can grow,” Jesan advised his fellow cosplayers.
